Summary

Reporting to Director, the Medical Science Liaison functions as a tactical scientific extension of Medical Affairs within the assigned geographic region and works to pair the needs of the medical community with available company resources.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the cultivation of current and future thought leaders in academic and clinical medicine, and the identification of potential clinical investigators and research sites
  • Carries out a variety of field activities associated with bringing new company products to market and supporting product development plans
  • Provide medical/scientific information to meet the needs of the medical community
  • Respond to unsolicited questions about Women’s Health products and related therapeutic areas
    • Dissemination of information and/or literature (within corporate guidelines) and other clinical material for healthcare provider/investigator education
    • Support for the managed care audience, formularies and third-party payers
    • Support for medical education initiatives (speaker training, advisory boards)
    • Delivery of  quality medical education/clinical presentations in a variety of settings
  • Develop, maintain and manage professional relationships with regional thought leaders, clinical opinion leaders, investigators and other healthcare providers
    • Identify and build collaborative relationships with healthcare providers for medical education and possible clinical trial opportunities
    • Create awareness of WH as a corporate entity and  product attributes, therapeutic benefits and appropriate uses of WH proprietary products
    • Attend key local, regional, and national scientific meetings
    • Gather and disseminate scientific intelligence from multiple sources
    • Assist in sales training as needed
    • Provide support for clinical studies
  • Present company research data to appropriate audiences
  • Function as conduit for investigator-initiated studies and/or other unsolicited investigator requests, forward study concepts or requests to appropriate internal department for review facilitate communication between research sites and the company

Requirements:

  • Advanced scientific degree (MD, DO, RN, PhD) required; Nurse Practitioners without a PhD will be considered
  • Ability to travel overnight 60%+ of the time is required (4 days per week in the field & 1 day in office) and work on pre-determined weekends (up to 8 per year)
  • Minimum of 3 years pharmaceutical or clinical experience (or equivalent) required
  • Women’s Health experience is required
  • Current MSL experience is required
  • Understanding of products, medical, marketing, legal and regulatory issues/guidelines and compliance
  • Understanding of the drug development and approval process
  • Understanding of clinical trials and investigator-initiated trial processes
